Biff’s Jack Shack, nestled snuggly among the rest of the newcomers in a fresh round of eateries at Shoreditch’s Box Park, offers vegans the perfect comfort junk food.

What makes Biff’s so great is that they manage to capture the essence of all the junk food you want, without leaving you feeling stodgy or in need of a long nap.

The Big Jack, their signature burger, takes you back to your first ever KFC, allowing you to relive the delicious experience of a juicy burger paired with a sweet brioche bun. But Biff’s goes beyond that; the freshness of the ingredients and the vibrancy of flavour makes this burger both junk and gourmet tasting at the same time.

All the meals are presented in such a colourful way that you can’t help thinking what you’re eating must be at least a little bit good for you. The jackfruit used as the base of all their burgers gives them a juiciness, that, when paired with the crispy outer layer, is an absolute delight.

Next, I tried the Father Jack, which like the first did not disappoint. The barbeque sauce tastes like someone’s elderly Nebraskan grandmother spent the afternoon tenderly cooking it on the stove. It was both sweet and sticky without having that I-came-out-of-a-jar junk food sparseness of flavour that is all too common. The whole burger was warming, the epitome of comfort food, with the added bonus of not giving you the sugar low at the end.

It’s not just the mains that delivered at Biff’s; the sides are obviously given just as much attention. The Baconate fries are especially flavoursome. The bacon-mayo was super smoky, yet creamy at the same time. This combination, paired with the well-cooked fries and the barbeque jam, is a smoky mouthful of deliciousness. Biff’s is able to satisfy your junk food cravings but also allows you to feel like you’ve had a heartfelt homemade meal all in one.

For those of you who have turned vegan and are craving the chips and cheese you hesitantly closed the door on, look no further. The Dirtbag Melt fries at Biff’s are exactly what you could hope for – the ultimate comfort meal.

What left me in awe at Biff’s is that fast food most often leaves you feeling stodgy and gross, but here I felt like I had a filling and nutritious meal, whilst satisfying all the junk food cravings I could have.
