West Ham supporters are being urged to avoid Hackney Wick today, after a stabbing in which one young man sadly died. 

Two men presented themselves to an east London hospital with stab injuries early this morning (February 11), with officers called at around 4.30am. 

One of the men died from his injuries, while another remains in hospital. 

A crime scene is currently in place and forensic examination is ongoing around White Post Lane, with no access to trains and buses being diverted. 

A West Ham Football Club season ticket holder and podcaster has tweeted that supporters are being advised to avoid the area either side of their derby game against Chelsea at 12.30pm today. 

The club’s Supporter Services account also tweeted fans are being asked not to drink in the Hackney Wick area, with no pubs around White Post Lane due to open today.

Police are asking anyone with information relating to the stabbing, or any witnesses, to call 101, ref 1222/11feb.
