There have been no arrests as yet after a shooting in a high street.

Police have revealed that a man, 23, was found with a gunshot wound to his arm following a shooting in Stoke Newington High Street yesterday (August 11), shortly after 3pm.

His condition is not life-threatening, Scotland Yard have said.

In a new update this morning (August 12), police say there have still been no arrests. A man was rushed to hospital and the road was closed due to the incident.

However a number of witnesses have been spoken to and CCTV has been recovered.

Chilling footage seen by the Hackney Gazette showed the moment when three loud bangs could be heard during the time of the shooting.

Crowds visible in the corner of the CCTV footage, which has now been removed online, could be seen fleeing the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Wallace, who is leading the investigation, said: "Gun crime has no place on the streets of London and our dedicated team of detectives will do all we can to track down whoever was responsible for this brazen crime.

"This shooting happened in a busy area during the middle of the day so I'm certain there will be people who saw what happened who can help with our enquiries. If you can help, please do get in touch."
