A four-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in Hackney has been pictured for the first time.

Kobi Macharia Dooly died after suffering knife injuries at a home in Montague Road on Wednesday evening (December 20).

His mother – Keziah Macharia, 41, of Montague Road – has since been charged with his murder.

She appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday (December 22) and was remanded in custody.

She will next appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday (December 28).

A special post-mortem is scheduled to take place on the same day.

Police were first called to Montague Road just before 11pm on Wednesday after concerns were raised for the welfare of a child.

Kobi was found with knife injuries. He was rushed to hospital but subsequently died from his injuries.  

His dad, Ben, has shared a statement with police following his death.

He said: "With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Kobi, you will be so dearly missed.

“The joy and laughter you brought to the world has been taken far too soon.

“We will be thinking of you day and night for eternity until we meet you again.

"The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate all messages of support, Please respect our family privacy at this very difficult time."
