The bus involved in a fatal crash with a car was reportedly stationary at the time of the incident, Metropolitan Police have said.

A woman who was the driver of the car died after being rushed to hospital from the scene of the crash in Lea Bridge Road this morning (February 8).

Police were called to the incident close to the junction with Clapton Road shortly before 7am.

There had been reports that a car had collided with a stationary bus in the road.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers, a police spokesperson said.

There were no reports of any other serious injuries as a result of the crash.

A police investigation is under way, and officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, especially those who may have recorded footage.
